Cosmas Mabeya - Executive Project Manager
Cosmas grew up in Kenya and studied Politics at university. He worked for twelve years in banking both in Kenya and South Africa and ran a property investment advisory suite in Cape Town. His love for books and reading led him to the Equal Education. He has run The Bookery for the last three years.
Nobesuthu Faku - Front Office Coordinator
Nobesuthu grew up in Dimbaza in the Eastern Cape, where she attended Archie Veleli High School. Before working at The Bookery, Nobesuthu worked in operations at Equal Education. Nobesuthu oversees the library creation process, assisting volunteers, and keeping The Bookery well-organised.

Claire Biesman-Simons -Senior Manager: Research and Fundraising
With a masters in Applied English Language and experience working in monitoring and evaluation for several years, Claire brings a strong combination of skills to The Bookery. She is passionate about reading and determined to offer as many learners as possible an entry into the world of books. Claire is responsible for all major research and for building a strong organisational strategy. She also oversees fundraising for The Bookery.

Jonny Wilkinson - Project Development Officer
Jonny was born in South Africa, grew up in England, and studied Politics and Philosophy at the University of Cape Town. After graduating in 2009, he worked at Equal Education before studying Honours in History at UCT. Jonny works part-time time at The Bookery where he supports Cosmas in operations. He is currently studying Marketing & Communications at Red & Yellow School of Logic and Magic in Cape Town.
Penny Dare - External Relations Officer
Penny is a very enthusiastic volunteer at The Bookery. She believes that every child is entitled to have a fully functional library at school. Penny has a degree in Economics and completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management through the Business Science Department at UCT in 1983. She worked in the Training Departments of Standard Bank Investment Corporation (Johannesburg), Standard Bank (Cape Town) and Gilbey Distillers & Vintners (Stellenbosch). Penny left the corporate environment in 1992 to start a family and now spends her time volunteering.
Sue Farrell - Spokesperson
Sue passionately believes that school libraries are vital to improving literacy levels in South Africa. She believes they are a gateway to life-long learning. Sue has a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, Statistics and Economics. She has worked at Alexander Forbes, BMW, Investec and Deloitte and Touche, where she covered areas of systems development, marketing, actuarial calculations and knowledge management. She left the corporate environment in 1999 to spend more time with her three children and husband Sean. Our operations count on Sue's giving heart and big-thinking to strengthen The Bookery’s profile and development in all forms of communication and in fundraising.
